Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital is a 480-bed teaching and tertiary care medical center located in St. Petersburg, Florida. Founded in 1910 as a 50-bed community hospital, it has operated for more than a century and joined the Orlando Health system in October 2020. Orlando Health is a private, not-for-profit organisation managing $9.6 billion in assets, with a network of 29 hospitals and emergency departments, nine specialty institutes, and more than 375 outpatient facilities across Florida.
The hospital holds two significant regional designations. It is the only state-accredited Level II Adult Trauma Center in the St. Petersburg region, and it operates a state-certified Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center in partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. Clinical services span a broad range of disciplines, including:
- Heart and vascular care
- Neurosciences
- Surgical services
- Rehabilitation
- Maternity care
- Emergency and trauma services
- Perinatal and neonatal intensive care
As a teaching medical centre, Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital supports medical education alongside its clinical operations. Its origins trace to a community-led effort to establish a public hospital in St. Petersburg, and it continues to serve as a primary healthcare resource for the region. The hospital operates under the broader resources and infrastructure of the Orlando Health system while maintaining its local presence.
