Toss is a South Korean fintech company founded in 2015 that operates a mobile-first financial super app. The platform consolidates payments, banking, investments, insurance, loans, and lifestyle services into a single application, offering users access to over 100 services without switching between multiple providers.
The company's core offering centres on simplifying financial transactions and account management. Toss provides online and offline payment capabilities, unified dashboard management for bank accounts and cards, investment services through Toss Securities, personalised loan recommendations, credit score tools, tax payment and document issuance functionality, and insurance management. The app also includes everyday services such as shopping and lifestyle features, positioning finance as part of a broader daily-use platform rather than a standalone domain.
Toss has achieved significant penetration across South Korea's population. The platform claims usage by more than one in two Koreans, with particularly high adoption among younger demographics: 94% of users in their 20s, 85% in their 30s, and 74% in their 40s. The company pioneered peer-to-peer money transfers without requiring accredited certificates when it launched its simple transfer service in February 2015, eliminating a friction point in Korean financial services.
