New York Edge operates the metropolitan region's largest network of school-based after-school and summer programmes, reaching more than 25,000 students annually across all five boroughs of New York City and Long Island. Founded in 1992, the organisation delivers programming in over 100 schools, serving predominantly low-income communities where over 85% of participants come from households below the poverty line.
The organisation's offerings span academic support, STEM instruction, arts education, sports and wellness, social-emotional development, leadership training, and college and career preparation. This breadth reflects a whole-child development approach designed to build pathways to lifelong success. Specialised initiatives such as the Excellence Project serve gifted and talented students within the broader portfolio.
New York Edge operates through deep partnerships with schools, communities, and city agencies. The model addresses what the organisation identifies as an opportunity gap in underinvested communities, providing structured, supervised environments where students can develop skills and explore interests during hours outside the school day.
