Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is the United Kingdom's largest central purchasing body. Its primary role is to manage the procurement of common goods and services for the public sector, with the aim of increasing savings for taxpayers by centralising buying power. It also leads on setting procurement policy for the government. The organisation operates across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
CCS provides a range of commercial agreements and frameworks, including Dynamic Purchasing Systems (DPS), which serve as procurement vehicles for public sector organisations. These frameworks simplify the buying process and are designed to be accessible to suppliers of all sizes, including SMEs, VCSEs, and micro-businesses.
The scale of CCS's operation is significant. It manages procurement across 83 categories of common goods and services - spanning sectors such as construction, energy, fleet, and travel - and provides access to over 20,000 public sector buyers. The organisation manages more than £30 billion in public sector spending annually and has delivered record commercial benefits exceeding £3.8 billion.
