Children's Institute, Inc. (CII) is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit founded in 1906 that serves approximately 30,000 children and families each year across three campuses in Echo Park, Watts, and Long Beach. With a staff of nearly 1,000, the organisation delivers a broad range of services spanning early childhood education, behavioral health, counseling, parenting support, and community leadership development - all structured around a whole-family model that addresses the interconnected needs of children and the adults who raise them.
CII's service portfolio covers every stage from prenatal support through adolescence, and includes specialist programs for foster youth, teenagers, and fathers through Project Fatherhood. Clinical and community-based mental health services form a significant part of its work, including Enhanced Care Management, a Mental Health Promoters initiative, and the REACH team, which supports children exposed to violence. The organisation has built more than 60 years of academic and clinical research alongside its direct service delivery.
CII holds accreditation from both NAEYC and the Council on Accreditation, and carries a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. It serves diverse communities across Los Angeles, including immigrant families regardless of immigration status, positioning itself as a trusted institutional resource in underserved neighborhoods.
