YouLend is an embedded financing platform that integrates lending directly into the software platforms merchants already use. Rather than directing SMEs to external lenders, YouLend enables platforms - including Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Just Eat, and Mollie - to offer financing within their own ecosystems under their own branding, without assuming capital risk.
The company uses AI-driven credit risk assessment to underwrite small business loans at scale. Its technology is live across more than ten countries in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, and has powered financing for over 370,000 businesses worth approximately £9 billion in revenue. Founded in 2016 by CTO Mark Ufland, YouLend began with seven employees and minimal infrastructure before expanding to its current scale. The company is backed by EQT Private Equity.
YouLend's value lies in reducing friction for SMEs seeking capital while allowing platforms to deepen merchant relationships and unlock new revenue streams. The embedded model means platforms retain control over customer experience and data whilst YouLend handles underwriting complexity and credit risk. The company has achieved 100% year-on-year growth since 2020.
