Xona, founded in 2019, is developing a satellite-based positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) system designed to serve applications where conventional GPS is insufficient. Its Pulsar constellation, planned to comprise 258 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites, broadcasts signals 100 times stronger than traditional GPS, enabling 2-centimetre horizontal positioning accuracy. The system is engineered to be backwards-compatible with existing GNSS receivers through a firmware update.
The company has secured $170 million in Series C funding to build this infrastructure. Its technology focuses on signal authentication and high-precision LEO-based navigation, targeting sectors including autonomous systems, robotics, and precision agriculture.
