University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) exists to transform lives through education, serving the students who traditional colleges were built to leave behind - working adults balancing careers and families, military servicemembers deployed around the world, and veterans navigating their next chapter. Founded in 1947, UMGC began by sending professors to post-war Europe to teach those who couldn't come to campus, and that spirit of meeting learners where they are drives everything we do today.
As the nation's largest public university, UMGC serves 90,000 students across 23 countries, offering 135+ career-focused programs designed for real-world impact. We've replaced expensive textbooks with no-cost digital resources, built courses from the ground up for online collaboration, and created flexible pathways that recognize prior learning and military experience. Our mission is clear: inspire hope, empower dreams, and make quality, accessible education a reality for those who need it most - one student at a time.
