The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) operates the backbone infrastructure for The Claremont Colleges, a consortium of seven independent institutions in Claremont, California that has functioned since 1925. The consortium comprises five undergraduate liberal arts colleges and two graduate institutions, enabling cross-institution access to academic programmes, extracurricular activities, and services for all enrolled students.
TCCS employs over 400 staff who deliver both student-facing and administrative operational services across all member institutions. The organisation manages the practical coordination required to maintain seven legally independent colleges whilst providing a unified student experience. This shared-services model allows member institutions to operate efficiently whilst offering students the breadth of a larger research university alongside the personalised attention associated with smaller colleges.
The consortium's structure creates a distinctive operational environment. Rather than consolidating institutions, TCCS preserves their independence whilst centralising services where economies of scale and coordination benefit the system. Students can pursue courses, engage in activities, and access support across all seven campuses, creating an integrated academic ecosystem from seven separate organisations.
