TECHTRONIC CORDLESS GP operates the Milwaukee Tool brand, a manufacturer of power tools and related technologies with over 10,000 employees and more than a century of industry presence. The company holds over 3,000 patents and has sustained double-digit year-over-year revenue growth for more than a decade. Its engineering scope spans electric motor design, lithium-ion battery technology, product development, manufacturing engineering, and intellectual property development.
Milwaukee Tool claims to have invented lithium-ion battery technology for power tools and engineers custom electric motors that, in some cases, achieve higher power density than those found in certain electric vehicles. The company integrates warranty data, social media, and product review analysis into its development process, using end-user feedback as a direct input to engineering decisions. Its technical domains include product quality engineering, patent engineering, and user feedback analysis alongside core manufacturing and motor design disciplines.
The internal culture emphasises speed, ownership, and direct communication. Engineers and team leaders are given the trust and resources to make decisions quickly, with an expectation that employees think beyond their immediate roles. The company describes its working model as collaborative - structured around a "One Team" approach - while placing explicit value on diversity of thought, experience, and background.
