Levisonics develops portable diagnostic devices using acoustic levitation technology to analyse blood coagulation and fluid properties at the point of care. The company's flagship product, the Acoustic Tweezing Coagulation Analyzer, suspends blood droplets without physical contact, enabling real-time viscoelastic and optical measurements whilst requiring 60 times less blood than competing solutions. The device works with both venous and capillary samples, making it suitable for use outside traditional hospital laboratories.
The company was founded through a collaboration between its CEO and researchers from Tulane University and Boston University, combining academic expertise with commercial development. Levisonics received $4.3 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Defense Technology/Therapeutic Development Award and has been recognised as one of Indiana's most promising early-stage startups. The company relocated from Louisiana to Fishers, Indiana, where it continues development of its platform for trauma diagnosis, hemostasis testing, and emergency care applications.
