Ixana is a 60-person startup spun out of Purdue University, focused on brain-inspired wearable computing and a proprietary wireless communication technology called Wi-R. The company develops non-radiative near-field communication systems designed for wearable and implantable devices, operating across consumer electronics, healthcare, and human-computer interface markets.
Wi-R, the company's patented core technology, uses small electric-field bubbles around the body to create secure, "wire-like wireless" connections. It achieves energy efficiency of sub-0.1 nanojoules per bit - roughly 100 times less than Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The technology is intended to enable a new class of body-area networking for devices where power consumption and security are critical constraints.
Ixana's technical work spans IC and system design, mixed-signal chip design, embedded systems, and machine learning. The company offers competitive compensation and equity, with a culture emphasising end-to-end ownership and rapid development cycles.
