huMannity Medtec is a non-profit 501(c)(3) medical research organization based in Valencia, California. Founded in 1985, the organization has operated for nearly 40 years with a team of over 75 people. Its mission is to pioneer life-enhancing medical technologies that address undermet healthcare needs.
The organization focuses on bridging the gap between early-stage ideas and first-in-human trials, partnering with inventors and entrepreneurs to advance technologies from ideation through product development. Its technical work spans neurotechnology, translational research, materials science, biomedical engineering, quality systems, and human-grade manufacturing, alongside clinical expertise and regulatory navigation.
huMannity Medtec's work has produced notable medical innovations, including a rechargeable implantable pacemaker, the first cochlear implant featuring bi-directional telemetry, and the first injectable micro-stimulator designed to restore function to impaired limbs and organs. The organization's research addresses conditions across hearing loss, vision loss, limb loss, diabetes, stroke rehabilitation, pain management, and pelvic floor disorders.
