HealthPartners is a nonprofit health care organization founded in 1957 that operates an integrated system of hospitals, clinics, health plans, and research facilities across the United States. The organisation serves over 1.8 million medical and dental health plan members nationwide and delivers care to 1.3 million patients through its Park Nicollet division in Minnesota and Wisconsin. As the largest consumer-governed nonprofit health care organisation in the nation, HealthPartners combines insurance products with direct care delivery through its network of facilities and specialty centres.
The organisation operates across five main areas: medical and dental health plans offered nationally, hospitals and clinics providing direct patient care, modern specialty centres, the HealthPartners Institute for research and education, and the integrated Park Nicollet system. This vertically integrated model allows HealthPartners to align incentives across insurance and care delivery, with a stated focus on making health care simpler, more affordable, and more accessible.
HealthPartners operates under a consumer-governed structure with explicit values of excellence, compassion, partnership, and integrity. The organisation traces its roots to Group Health, one of the first prepaid health plans in the United States, and maintains a mission centred on improving health and well-being through relationships built on trust with members, patients, and communities.
