Grant PUD is a customer-owned public utility district that has operated since 1938. It generates and delivers clean, renewable hydroelectric energy and provides fiber internet services throughout Grant County, Washington, including communities such as Electric City and Royal City.
The utility's core asset is the Priest Rapids Project on the Columbia River, comprising the Priest Rapids and Wanapum dams with a combined capacity exceeding 2,100 megawatts. Grant PUD also operates a High Speed Network, offering fiber internet with download speeds up to 1-gigabit per second across most of its service area. It serves more than 40,000 customers.
Governed by a Board of Commissioners, Grant PUD operates within the energy generation, distribution, and telecommunications sectors. The utility's stated priorities include stewardship, conservation, and sustainability, alongside a focus on affordability and reliability. It is guided by the requirements of the Clean Energy Transformation Act.
