Glean was founded in 2019 by Arvind Jain, who spent more than a decade building Google Search before starting the company. It has since grown to over 1,000 employees operating across more than 25 countries. The company builds a context-aware AI platform designed for enterprise use, centred on two proprietary knowledge structures: an Enterprise Graph, which maps relationships between people, content, and activity across an organisation, and a Personal Knowledge Graph, which does the same at the individual level. These underpin three core products: Intelligent Search, an AI Assistant, and Scalable AI Agents.
The platform is built on an open, extensible, and secure stack that integrates with tools where employees already work, including Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom, ServiceNow, Zendesk, and GitHub. The AI agents are designed to draw on a broad range of data - enterprise and external, structured and unstructured, historical and real-time - to operate autonomously on behalf of users. Glean serves customers across more than 50 industries.
Engineering at Glean spans technical domains including context-aware AI, information retrieval, agentic system design, knowledge graph construction, data integration, and secure platform engineering. The company's distributed workforce and emphasis on an open, extensible stack reflect a technical culture oriented around both scale and adaptability.
