CSC – Tieteen tietotekniikan keskus is a Finnish non-profit organisation established in 1971 that provides digital infrastructure and computing services to universities, research institutes, public agencies, and companies across Finland. Headquartered in Espoo with operations including a facility in Kajaani, CSC is 70% owned by the Finnish Government and 30% by Finnish higher education institutions, positioning it as a national centre of expertise in research technology infrastructure.
The organisation operates Finland's most powerful supercomputers, including LUMI, a world-class supercomputer hosted in Kajaani. CSC delivers high-performance computing resources for scientific research, manages Funet (the national research network), and provides cloud services and artificial intelligence solutions to support computational research and education across the country.
Beyond supercomputing, CSC offers comprehensive digital infrastructure and data management services to support the digitalization of research and education. Its customer base spans universities, research institutes, public administration bodies, cultural institutions such as archives and libraries, and the private sector, reflecting its role as a national digital backbone for Finnish research and knowledge work.
