ARUP Laboratories is a national clinical and anatomic pathology reference laboratory. It operates as a nonprofit enterprise of the University of Utah and its Department of Pathology, with its base in Salt Lake City, Utah, and serves clients nationwide.
The laboratory's technical work spans molecular genetics, genomics, cytogenetics, genomic microarray, and biochemical genetics. It staffs more than 150 medical directors, genetic counselors, pathologists, and specialty scientists across 65 laboratories, processing tests for over one million patients each month.
ARUP also develops tools for the broader healthcare system. Its ARUP Consult service offers diagnostic decision support to clinicians, while its Healthcare Advisory Services assist other laboratories in optimizing their operations and cost-effectiveness.
